Greetings earthlings. Today marks the release of G7’s 57th and final release of audio excrement out into this troubled sphere. It’s called This Time It’s Personal and it was crafted by one Chris Pastor, aka Jamaica Plain.

At first we didn’t know why his music was so bizarre and eccentric. He was, after all, from Boston, home of such clearly non-eccentric luminaries as Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn. But then we found he was now living in Sweden and it all made sense. Those people are freaks (see examples.)

Speaking of old Zinn-meister, here’s what he had to say about This Time It’s Personal:

We just listened to your wonderful new CD [sic] — it is as you want it to be — up-front and very powerful, with the words coming at you, entering into your consciousness. It is a really important thing you’ve done. Each one of the pieces is great.

The man certainly has a way with words, doesn’t he? And who are you to argue with him — he wrote the fucking People’s History of the United States!

Download This Time It’s Personal today - and also check out the recently-posted video for I Won’t Run (which, if viewed cynically, could be interpreted as endorsing suicide bombings. But we’re not cynics! And we don’t endorse suicide bombings. Nor do we endorse F16 aerial bombings. Unless you’re blowing up an F16 with a suicide bomb, that’s OK.)

You can also find the album on iTunes, eMusic, Amazon and other inter-web locations.

It’s been awhile since you’ve heard any actual news from us related to this whole record label business, and for this we apologize. We’ve all been very busy doing anything and everything that has nothing to do with this record label.

But that’s all about to change.

Instead of pretending that we’re actually still interested in the practice of accepting submissions and hunting for, then filtering and sorting, then negotiating and paying for, then promoting and distributing and accounting for music … instead of pretending that we like and are happy doing all THAT … we are doing the opposite. And opposite, is opposite.

No more. I’m going on 58, Chris is pushing 65, and Brent … well Brent’s only 34, but he spends half of his time in the drunk tank and the other half in the dunk tank, so he’s a write off.

Point is … well, let me illustrate. Go to the kitchen, open the drawer … no, not that one, it’s all full of old twist ties and plastic bags … no, one to the left … no no, the OTHER left … OK, good, that one … now get a fork. No, that’s a foon. THERE we go - now THAT’S a fork! OK now, what was I saying? Oh right - now stick that fork in us. Because WE’RE DONE.

All G7 releases will remain available in their current high-quality digital form into the foreseeable future. Watch for Chris’ forthcoming retrospective on the history of G7 from AK Press next year?

It’s been a slice dickwads.

Our recent Vancouver addition The Rebel Spell are planning a journey (on which they will perform live concerts) across Canada which commences in a couple of short weeks. A good chunk of the tour will be with the terribly-named Leftover Crack. Tour dates to be found here.

In case you forgot, we released Four Songs About Freedom (awesome) and Days of Rage (also awesome) this past August. If you think punk sucks (like we do) I recommend you check this shit out.

A few items of note for ya’ll today. First off, even though we offer our very own download store featuring the highest-quality MP3s you can get, some folks still prefer to shop at the mall. The mall in this case being iTunes. Good news today if you’re one of those people - our entire digitally-available catalogue is now available on iTunes in the DRM-free “iTunes Plus” format, at 256 kbps (as opposed to the former DRM-laden 128 kbps format).

I would like to reiterate, though, that the MP3s from our own store have always been DRM-free, and are of better quality. Get? Got it? No? Good.

Secondly - a new book penned by Bob Mersereau titled The Top 100 Canadian Albums is out this week, and what G7 album comes in at number 75? Propagandhi’s Potemkin City Limits? warsawpack’s GDP? Nope, but great guesses. Number 75 on this final and authoritative list is The Weakerthans’ Left and Leaving. Interesting!

On a related note - as of November 6th, G7 will no longer be offering for sale any Weakerthans albums currently in our catalogue (Fallow, Left & Leaving, or Watermark) in either physical or digital form, through any venue of sale. They will, however, be reborn instantly, crawling out of the cave and into the light, reissued in Canada on Epitaph.

We have a special offer for you kind people in our e-store, consisting of the hardcover edition of the insightful and terrifying new book by former New York Times correspondent Chris Hedges entitled AMERICAN FASCISTS, plus a copy of our incredibly good but commercially-failed compilation CD Take Penacilin Now - together for $22.

Here’s something to whet your appetite from the book:

“All it will take is one more national crisis on the order of 9/11 for the Christian right to make a concerted drive to destroy American democracy. The movement awaits that crisis. At that moment they will reveal themselves for what they truly are: the American heirs to fascism.”

Get that shit while it lasts.
